Sneaker Net

SneakerNet - The sneaker net was first introduced within a month of the activation of the DARPANet, the predecessor of the Internet. It was a secret protocol that allowed you to conduct networking activities without any record.

This was originally used to trade dirty jokes among DARPA workers without supervisors clamping down. As the Internet grew, the SneakerNet grew too. Today it generates 65% as much traffic as the public Internet.

Some suspect terrorist groups may use the SneakerNet to coordinate and plan activities and a key aspect of the Patriot Act was to give the government authority to infiltarte and monitor the SneakerNet. Unfortunately the protocols are so bewildering and the encryption so sophisticated, no governmental entity has yet successfully penetreated the SneakerNet.

Instead the CIA, MI5, World Government and other entities send spies into the SneakerNet and the SneakerWeb to try to glean information as participants.

All hackers no how to access the SneakerNet though few will admit it, and nobody ever posts instructions on the Public Internet. Still a few things are known. SneakerNet addresses can be accessed through SAP (SneakerNet Access Protocol). Sites with WWW2 at the beginning of their public Web addresses are mirrored on the SneakerWeb. All email addresses on the SneakerNet use # instead of @.

The World Government

World Government - The world government is often associated with the United Nations, or more often with conspiracy theories about secret societies that rule the world. The truth about the World Government is much more mundane if quite obscure.

The World Government is one fo the oldest institutions in existence although it has not existed continuously. It was founded in 130 BCE by the Roman Emperor, the King of Persia, the Emperor of China, the King of Ethiopia, and two historically obscure leaders recorded as the Gale of Ire (thought to be Celtic) and the King of the West.

It continued until 476 CE (AD) when the Western Roman Empier formally dissolved. Members put a vote on reorganisation off until the next convenient time.

That time wouldn't come until 1067. The few continuing members of the World Government met with some selected representatives of rising powers in Europe, Japan, and other obscurely named regions. It was decided that the World Government would form as a continuing organisation that relied on its members to perpetuate the government rather than on particular states or leaders. Power would be yieled through the influence of members on world leaders. Scholars were employed to set down a code of operations that would insure the government had the influence necessary to rule without true world leaders. This incarnation of the World Government was the closest to the conspiracy theories of the modern day. Members of the World Government were secret at this time, and variously the Roman Catholic Church, the Islamic Caliphate, the Society of Jesus, and the Khan called for the World Government's elimination.

The World Government successfully influenced affairs well into the 1400s. Unfortunately records indicate that, as with any organisation, the rules were not followed, membership quality began to decline, and influence began to wane. This coincided with the expansion of Europe into the western hemisphere. At a time when the World Government could have been at it's most effective it was absent. Colonialism ran rampant.

Thankfully plans were hatched in the salons of France and Coffee Houses of Britain to rehabilitate the World Government. It was officially reformed as a Clubb in 1689. Officers were placed in such far flung places as Mexico City, Manila, and Delhi among others.

This is often considered the golden age of the World Government. While not entirely secret, they worked with a low profile, mostly through commercial means to effect their strategy. It is also when they took a firm hand in guiding the world as a whole. Some of their most eminent members laid the foundations for our current governments. The revolutions in America as a labaratory experiment and France as a grander scheme, were their first and some argue, greatest achievements.

The Clubb or corporation survived World War I although the conflict set them back on their heels a bit. It was meant as a low-level eastern European conflict. During the 1920s, the World Government underwent deep debates over its organisation and functioning. By 1935 its influenced had waned considerably, with one unique exception. For the first time since the Roman era, a world leader was a member of the World Government. Franklin Delano Roosevelt had joined as a very young man, and left for politics when he saw the strain the institution was going through. He did not however withdraw his membership and rejoined its functionings after World War II broke out.

The post-war and post FDR era saw a strengthening of the corporation and a resumption of its influence. Its work remained strong if distant from governments and politics until teh rise of terrorist organisations. Since 2001 the corporation has gone through a period of questioning whether its influences are waning and another reorg is necessary.

The current World Government has 40 members from all continents and meets as a whole twice a year.

The creation of the Republican party

The Republican party of the USA was founded in 1854 in Ripon, Wisconsin by the members of the Great Lakes Area Platonic Society. They believed that the United States had strayed from it's ideal as a truely rational society governed by the enlightened. The society gathered like-minded representatives of various organisations to Wisconsin to discuss ways to encourage the ideals set forth by Plato in his book "The Republic." A proposal was put forth during the meetings that the various groups should contribute delegates to a convention, with the purpose of forming a political party that could stand candidates for various offices. The party was originally called the "Platonic Republican" party, to distinguish it from Thomas Jefferson's Democratic-Republican party. As that party was shortened to "Democrats" so the Platonic Republicans became known simply as Republicans.

The values of enlightened leadership providing the ideal governance have been passed down from Plato to the Republicans of today.

How the Cincinnati Reds Got Their Name

Few people know that the Reds, the oldest existing professional team got their name from the 1800's version of a political action committee.

The Cincinnati baseball club was funded by the local worker's unions at the riverfront. In those days communists were not yet looked on with the fear and disgust that would develop in the 20th century.

However the "Red Flag" had been adopted widely as a symbol of communists socialists and other workers parties. The union heads kept a low profile in the Cincy club but local sportswriters still referred to the Riverfront nine as "the Red's Club" which later became just the Reds.
