I think my favorite page in this new expanded Boiling Point universe is the Peace of Houston. I just completed adding maps for each country alongside the flags and vital information about each country.
If you have other info you’d like to see here (or on the Peace of Vancouver) let me know in the comments.
I know these hand-drawn maps look a *tiny* bit rough, but I do love seeing the whole thing coming together on the Web.

I’ve updated the back story for the original Boiling Point novel with some maps and flags.
This Peace of Vancouver fact sheet has the complete nations that existed at the end of the book. I’ve also created a Peace of Houston fact sheet, which settled the national boundaries some time after the end of the book.
I also have three maps. The original map I used while writing the back story along with formalized map of the Peace of Vancouver, and the later map of the Peace of Houston.

When I first got the idea for Boiling Point I was working as an intern at National Public Radio in the first 5 months of the Clinton administration in 1993. A lot of my duties involved going down into the library and researching. At one point I ran across a book called ‘The Nine Nations of North America” by Joel Garreau. It talks about the cultural unity of different regions of the continent that have nothing to do with state or national borders.
So I started writing a story of events that take place leading to the breakup of the US. I was also partly inspired by the breakup of the once monolithic Soviet Union. I actually made a map in pencil and changed the borders as I wrote out the story. What I wrote eventually served as a back story for a series of radio broadcasts I created called Nations. I thin wrote Boiling Point around those radio scripts.
I intend to put all this stuff up on the site. The first thing I have up is the back story. I have modified it slightly from the original to give it more depth and clarity, but it’s essentially just a history of the United States during the breakup. Read it here.

This is a site dedicated to the world I created before writing the book “Boiling Point”. Here you’ll find background histories, maps, lists of countries and events and other information.
My hope is that people will feel free to take this material and remix, recreate, tweak and otherwise extend it. Wanna make an RPG? A video game? Write your own stories? All I ask is that you give credit to my source material, and issue your works under the same terms as mine.
